Sometimes when designing an en-suite, it’s easy to fall into the trap of taking the easy option and replacing old for new and leaving it like that. 

When possible I like to add details such as plants, artwork and accessories. This softens the look and makes the transition between the bedroom and en-suite more like an extension of the bedroom and not a completely different space. 

I tend not to use too many tiles as this is not necessary in areas where there is no water supply. 

In many instances, en-suites are more important than main bathrooms as they are used more frequently and are more intimate.
