Restaurant Refit in Carrickfergus

Springsteen's Restaurant Refurbishment

The owner of Springsteen’s gave me a very loose brief. He asked me to create a warehouse / industrial design scheme which exuded an air of relaxed dining.

With this in mind I introduced materials which are synonymous with this particular style.

Corrugated tin was used to clad the bar facade, rustic brick slips were used to clad the piers and also as the backdrop for the ‘SPRINGSTEENS’ sign. The addition of waney-edge wooden boards added authenticity to the back wall and a combination of wood effect tiles and patterned tiles were laid on the floor to fit in with the overall scheme.

Ambient copper lighting completed the scheme together with copper painted beams.

Challenges During the Project

The biggest challenge for this project was the allotted time on site. The restaurant closed, after service, on a Sunday evening and re-opened the following Saturday. It was tight but we achieved the 6 day turn around.

Bespoke ‘Springsteen’s’ Sign

The other challenge was the bespoke ‘Springsteen’s’ sign. I wasn’t entirely sure how it would look, so fortunately for the owner and diners alike, it is a big attraction.

The Finished Result after opening day

Since the opening I am delighted to report that restaurant covers significantly increased and continue to increase month on month
