BATHROOM INTERIOR DESIGN

Jonathan Ryan Forde • Jul 18, 2018

Long gone are the days when bathrooms were regarded as the least stylish room in the home. As the perfect oasis to relax and rejuvenate, we’re pleased to see that more thought and attention has been given to them, and the results are utterly mesmerising.

If your bathroom needs a makeover, this post is perfect for you! Here, we round-up the bathroom interior design Northern Ireland trends topping the charts this year.

Feeling blue

While blue might not be an unsurprising colour choice for a bathroom, this year indigo is making a splash. Reminiscent of the sea, the hue with its rich hints of turquoise and delicious texture is the perfect choice for your bathroom.

A pop of colour

For 2018, bland is out and bold is very much in. If you thought bathrooms were all about floor to ceiling white tones, think again. This year we’re seeing a splash of colour. Whether it be through your choice of mosaic tiles, coloured baths or basins, don’t rule anything out.

Throwback to a bygone era

Today, bathrooms are bridging the gap between the old and the new, with period style bathrooms proving very much in. Whether your house is a new build, Victorian or Edwardian style, this theme works wonderfully. A freestanding bath is the top choice or if space doesn’t allow it, a simple shower with ceramic handled brassware will work wonders at bringing your vision to life.

Ultra-modern furniture

On the other hand, ultra modernity is also in! High gloss furniture works to give a bathroom space and light thanks to their clever design. Their purpose of keeping an area tidy is further enhanced by their sleek design, often positioned overhead or out of sight to maximise room.

Matt finishes

While white gloss is loved for its ability to reflect light, matt is making waves in spacious spaces. Perfect for families with sticky fingers, it’s less likely to show up dirt. For extra disguise, choose darker hues, such as grey or navy.

His and her showers

Good news if you don’t fancy sharing your shower space, his and her showers are one of the hottest bathroom interior design Northern Ireland trends for 2018. While his and her sinks have been around for quite some time, take things to the next stage with separate showers. Morning times need never be hectic again.

Mix and match tiles

Can’t decide on just one type of tile? Choose two instead. 2018 is taking a mix and match approach to bathroom tiles. The key is two choose two types of tiles which while different, complement each other perfectly. Whether that be through a similar hue or pattern, sharing a common element is key.

Pretty palms

One of the biggest overall interior design trends for 2018 has been the introduction of plants into the home, so it was only a matter of time before they made their way into our bathrooms. In particular, big, leafy palms can add a touch of summer to the room, even in the midst of winter.
