It’s officially spring and here at Home and Contract Design in Belfast , we couldn’t be happier about it. We’re ready to say goodbye to the winter rut and add a touch of spring to our interior design projects in preparation for sunnier days.
If you’re keen to embrace the new season in your home’s interior design, it’s easier to achieve than you think. Here, we round up 9 key ways our interior designerswill be effortlessly adding a touch of spring to homes in Northern Ireland.
Swap your cushions
While velvet, silk and tweed are wonderful fabrics for cushions, they have the potential to feel a little heavy during the spring and summer months. To freshen things up, swap them out in favour of cotton or linen fabrics, which will add a lighter feel to your home interior design.
Opt for new bedding
The easiest way to update your bedroom is with the addition of new bedding. Choose a spring themed cover, or opt for brighter hues to take your bedroom into the new season. Ditch heavy throws and tones of cushions to keep things lighter.
Bring the outdoors inside
Spring is the season of rejuvenation and an abundance of beautiful colour is present. Dead and dreary trees and plants suddenly spring back to life and their beautiful green colour makes a welcome addition to our home. Choose big statement vases to showcase your choice of greenery, scattered throughout your home.
Feng shui your living room
One of the easiest, (yet to mention free) ways to update your home is to move your furniture around. If you think your room could lend itself to a new set up, rearrange your furniture to find positions you are happy with.
Add a pop of colour
The addition of bold, bright accessories is an easy way to welcome the new season in your home. Whether it’s colourful coffee table books, eye catching trinkets or the addition of flowers, add a pop of colour to your home and watch its instant transformation.
Try a new scent
Spring offers an abundance of fresh scents so try out a few in your home. Designers have ensured candles and diffusers have never been more stylish so as well as bringing a new scent to your house, they serve the purpose of being simple yet effective finishing touches.
Dress up your table
Our kitchen and dining room tables tend to get neglected so make them a focal point of your home. Dress your table as if you have guests arriving for an easy way to transform the space into something magical. Experiment with a new table cloth, floral centrepieces and even candelabras to give it a new lease of life.
Let there be light
One of the things we love the most about spring is the longer, brighter days. This has an ability to instantly lift our mood, so let light into your home so that you can enjoy the benefits as much as possible. Open your blinds and curtains during the day to welcome a little sunshine into your home.
Embrace florals
Nothing screams spring more than flowers, and while they might not actually be ground breaking, we love using them on our interior design projects. The easiest way to add a touch of florals to your home is through your soft furnishings, so look at each room and decide if it could use a little flower power.
