September has arrived, bringing with it a chill in the air. As the Spiced Pumpkin lattes make their way back onto menus, and the days suddenly become shorter, it’s a reminder that autumn is well and truly on the way.

Here at Home and Contract Design, we are massive fans of autumn! Cosy knitwear, an abundance of colour and the desire to give our homes a hygge overhaul offers much to get excited about. Plus, with the new season comes a whole new host of interior design trends, which is reason enough to fall in love with autumn.

If you’re thinking about updating your home’s décor this season, here’s our round-up of autumn interior design trends.

Big, bold blooms

Autumn Interior Design Trends

Think florals are just for spring? Think again! This season our favourite print is given a seriously stylish makeover! Oversized blooms are making their way into our homes on cushions, bedding and even wallpaper. Pay special attention to those with a pre-Raphaelite style. For a touch of opulence, choose furniture in luxurious textures and rich jewel tone hues to really pull off this look.

Pared down

If the talk of florals is just too much, modern neutrals may be more your taste. Natural looking furniture in stripped timber is combined with an array of nature-inspired accessories to evoke a sense of minimalism. To take things up a notch, add in geometric soft furnishings in grey tones for a little warmth this season.

Into the woods

If you go down to the living room today, you’re sure of a big surprise! Autumn is personified thanks to the careful combination of intense berry hues, bark and bramble. Chunky knits are in abundance, while checked prints and season-appropriate plants help bring this woodland retreat to life.

New Nordic

While the scandi trend reigned supreme last year, its influence is set to continue, with a modern twist. The look is given more warmth, thanks to the desire to layer. A gentler muted colour palette of soft pinks and navys work in harmony, while subtle lighting offers a touch of warmth.

Wanderlust

This season, globally inspired prints are combined and the result is truly beautiful! Think lkats, paisleys and intricate Indian patterns in rich tones, finished with tassels, pom poms and macramé detailing, adorning everything from cushions to art in our homes.

Luxe lover

Autumn Interior Design Trends

If you crave adding a touch of opulence to your home, this autumn interior design trend is definitely for you! Decadence is easily achieved through your choice of colours and textures to add oodles of luxury. In particular, statement lighting and accessories with art deco influences are key. Expect to see the comeback of the drinks trolley too.
