When it comes to interior design, the world is full of inspiration. One of my favourite things to do is to visit a new city, stay in a beautiful hotel and soak up its exquisite style. Often, when it comes to interior design, hotels pave the way for a whole new host of trends. From the luxurious to contemporary, quirky and chic, it’s easy to get inspiration for your next home interior design project.
So with this in mind, I’ve rounded up hotels from around the world with exquisite interior design, perfect for your own home.
Palazzo Versace, Dubai
Definitely not for the faint hearted, the hotel was designed by Donatella Versace, and so, as you would expect, it is the perfect composition of prints, bling and colour. Whether you love it or loath it, there’s no denying that it’s one of the world’s most talked about hotels. In particular, the Giardino restaurant’s print is based on that infamous jungle-print dress with plunging neckline, as worn by Jennifer Lopez to the Grammys in 2000.
The Lowell, New York
During New York Fashion Week, you can expect to see fashion editors floating around The Lowell’s stylish lobby. Located on the leafy Upper East Side in Manhattan, it offers the intimacy of a boutique hotel. Some rooms even boast working wood-burning fire places. Designer Michael S. White’s chic interior design sees lashings of elegant silk drapes combined with rich mahogany furnishings for a look that we love.
The Four Seasons, Paris
The art-deco landmark is nestled in the Golden Triangle of Paris, just off the historic Champs-Elysees. The bedrooms, many of which afford views of the Eiffel Tower, offer Parisian-style layouts and rooms graced with fine artworks and antiques. However, it’s elsewhere in the hotel that captures our attention. The exquisite outdoor L’Orangerie is the perfect place to while away the day.
Soho House, Chicago
Located in a warehouse dating back to 1907, Soho House is the epitome of industrial chic. Exposed brickwork, pipes and distressed wooden floors are contrasted with sparkling chandeliers, plush chairs and plump cushions for the perfect balance.
Pod 39, New York
Another New York contender, the budget-friendly, yet cool hotel, is the perfect base for travellers hoping to soak up the sights of the city. The rooftop lounge needs to be seen to be believed, with its exquisite colours and textures transporting us to Marrakech. The Batik pillow-strewn banquettes in delicious turquoise, effortlessly set again rustic stone walls really enhance the mood.
1888 Hotel, Sydney
The stylish hotel was actually built around a seven-metre high internal atrium, and encases two custom-made glass elevators and a living tree. Exposed stonewall, graffiti-esque artwork in primary pops of colour and dark wood almost offer a bachelor pad feel.
D.O.M, Rome
Formerly a 17th century palace, D.O.M’s current style is down to architect Antonio Girardi, who effortlessly infuses Renaissance reverence with contemporary style. Expect grey and brown hues combined with velvet, brick and wood textures throughout.
Hotel du Petit Moulin, Paris
This four-star boutique hotel, located in Paris’s stylish Marais district, was designed by the famous fashion designer, Christian Lacroix. Each room and suite offers a personalised decoration with his incomparable style found throughout. But it is perhaps the hotel’s façade, which is most memorable. It was originally the oldest bakery in Paris, dating back to the time of Henri IV, and the shop-front remains today.
